100 Frames, 12 Hours and £690 Raised: Our Macmillan Pool Marathon Success!

What a team effort! Hazel Grove Snooker Club’s 100-frame, 12-hour pool marathon has raised a fantastic £690 for Macmillan Cancer Support, comfortably beating our original £500 target.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who helped make this challenge a success. From the players who took part to the individuals, businesses and pool teams who donated, this was a fundraiser powered by the generosity of our community.
We set ourselves a challenge, picked up our cues and came together for a cause that matters. Now, with all 100 frames completed and our fundraising target smashed, we want to say a massive thank you.
Our original goal was to raise £500. Thanks to your support, we finished £190 above that target — an incredible 38% more than we had hoped for. Every contribution helped us reach that total, and every person involved deserves to share in the achievement.
A pool marathon is a natural fit for our club: taking a game we love and using it to bring people together for something worthwhile. But committing to 100 frames across 12 hours takes more than enthusiasm for a few games. It needs people willing to give their time, keep the challenge moving and support each other along the way.
That collective effort is what makes this result so special. The headline might be £690, but behind that figure are all the individual contributions that made it possible. Donations, time and fundraising efforts all played their part in turning an ambitious idea into a successful event.
And we could hardly finish a challenge like this with an ordinary final frame!
For frame number 100, we brought everyone together for an 8 vs 8 Scotch doubles finale. Sixteen players sharing one final game was a brilliant way to mark the end of the marathon and made for a hugely enjoyable finish.
It was exactly the right ending to a challenge built around teamwork. After working towards the same goal, we could celebrate that final frame together. The group photograph captures the pride and enjoyment of the occasion far better than any scoreboard could.
There is something particularly satisfying about reaching a milestone as a group. That 100th frame belonged to everyone who had helped get us there, and it gave us a memorable way to celebrate both the pool challenge and the fundraising achievement.
We would like to give a special thank you to everyone who contributed:
Steve Millar, Emily Moss, Gary Langdale, Jason Ashworth, Nicholas Blench, Protection UK Ltd – Chris, Bob Nield, Phil Bannister, Brandon Walker, Clock & Balls Pool Team, Jamie McColl, Nomads Pool Team, Andrew Bannister, John Curzon, George Samways, Keith Ditchfield, Steve Lindley, Joe Hester, Nelson Pirates, Jacques Taylor Beck, Ben and Brisci, Jamie Rowan, Chris Buckley, Chris Fox, Adam Nevin, Clive Knox, Ian Dickinson, Kian Monaghan, Pick Pocketers and Kaytlyn Lomas.
Seeing individuals, teams and a local business contribute to the same cause means a great deal to us. Whether you donated a little or a lot, your generosity helped make this fundraiser a success. Thank you for getting behind the challenge and helping us go beyond our target.
A very special thank you goes to Ian “Dicko” Dickinson for his fantastic fundraising efforts. Dicko deserves particular recognition for the contribution he made to this result, and we are hugely grateful for his support. Fundraisers depend on people putting in that extra effort, and it is only right that we celebrate it.
Supporting Macmillan Cancer Support gave the marathon a purpose beyond the table. Throughout a challenge like this, the frame count and fundraising total give everyone something to work towards, but the reason for taking part remains the most important thing: raising money to support people affected by cancer.
For us, this event also reflects what we value about Hazel Grove Snooker Club. We love the games, the competition and the enjoyment of playing, and we are proud of the community that has grown around them. When that community comes together to support a good cause, it creates something everyone can feel part of.
To everyone who played, donated or helped with the fundraising, thank you for making this possible. You helped turn 12 hours of pool into £690 for Macmillan, with a brilliant final frame to remember it by.
100 frames completed. £500 target smashed. £690 raised.
From all of us at Hazel Grove Snooker Club: thank you. We are super proud of this community! 💚🎱
